Muuchit Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions June 26, 2018
How does it work?
Muuchit is a Social Enterprise using the sharing economy to make a positive social and environmental impact. We are a peer-rental marketplace that benefits mission-led organizations by connecting event hosts, and planners to charities with rentable event items and venues. Individuals and For–profits can also list their items on Muuchit by pledging 5% or more of their rental proceeds to a charity listed on the site, the "Benefiting Organization".
- Providers list their event-related items, spaces, or venues on Muuchit for rent
- If you are an Individual or For-Profit Provider, pledge 5% or more to a Benefiting Organization / non-profit charitable organization approved and listed on the site.
- Renters reserve and pay for selected items and/or venues on the site.
- Muuchit contacts the Provider(s) to ensure availability for requested dates.
- Upon confirmation Muuchit connects Provider and Renter to arrange pickup of items or event logistics.
HOW CAN MY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION BE LISTED AS A BENEFITING ORGANIZATION TO RECEIVE DONATIONS FROM RENTAL PROCEEDS ON YOUR SITE?
1) List your items or venue, and you will automatically be added to the list of non-profits to select from to donate rental proceeds or 2) Complete the “Nominate a Non-Profit” form on our site
What are some event-related items I can list?
Tables, chairs, tents, microphone, A/V equipment, chafing dishes, catering items, lighting, extension cords, bar tables, decorations, themed party items, meeting equipment, VGA projector, whiteboard, etc.

May I list items other than event-related things?
Listings are mostly event focused at this time, but feel free to list other items for rent and see if you get traction! The sharing economy is about being a micro-entrepreneur, so we encourage making this like your own startup by listing high demand items or spaces at competitive prices, include clear and appealing images to showcase your listing.
What is a Benefiting Organization?
A Charitable organization nominated on our site. Once reviewed and approved by Muuchit, the charitable organization becomes a Benefiting Organization to receive a portion of rental proceeds from transactions on our platform. Providers listing on our site select their preferred Benefiting Organization, and pledge 5% or more of their rental proceeds as a donation to the Benefiting Organization on their listing
How can we become a Benefiting Organization?
Click on "Nominate Your Non-Profit,” complete the form, add your Mission Statement, and upload your Form 990. Muuchit will review your application to ensure your organization is a charitable organization that aligns to our Mission and Values.
Do Benefiting Organizations listing on Muuchit need to donate a percent of their rental proceeds?
If you are a Muuchit approved Benefiting Organization, your rental proceeds will go to your own non-profit organization; you do not need to donate a portion of your rental proceeds.
Payments and Transactions
When does the Renter get charged for their reservation?
We charge the Renter at the time of requesting the reservation. If the selected Provider denies the reservation, Muuchit will attempt to source a similar item or venue from an alternate Provider that is satisfactory to the Renter. If alternate arrangements are not suitable, the reservation charge will be refunded back to the Renter’s account/credit card within 5-7 days.
When does the Provider receive rental proceeds?
Muuchit pays the Provider the proceeds two business days after completion of the rental, or in some cases, the day of the rental.
